Tree Peonies Let's See What We Have Here

When To Plant Tree Peonies:

Fall is the preferred planting time for Tree Peonies, so we have arranged to import our tree peonies earlier than usual this year. Losses are fewer and results are more reliable with Fall planting. Winter and Spring planting are still feasible but certain precautions must be observed.

Scarcity Of Tree Peonies:

It has been increasingly difficult to obtain tree peonies over the years due to new USDA standards on Chinese imports, and demand for advance payment by the Chinese suppliers. Meanwhile the domestic industry has virtually disappeared. We rely on importing from China and take great risks in getting the plants delivered without incident. Sometimes we lose our entire investment if problems are encountered. Thus, we have tightened our guarantee policy to a degree in order to spread out this enormous risk and impress on the gardener the importance of planting promptly, as directed. We will supply detailed instructions with every order.

Our Tree Peony Guarantee:

We guarantee safe arrival of healthy viable plants. Please plant promptly to validate the growing guarantee. If the plants don't show any leaf development in the first 6 months, we will replace the plants free of charge the following season. You must submit your report 6 months from date of purchase to initiate a claim. Provide names and quantities purchased and state where you bought your plants. Shipping expense is not covered in the replacement guarantee. We can't absorb responsibility for losses experienced or reported beyond the 6-month point, so please give this project your best effort. It will be entirely worth it!.

New Lower-priced Stock:

We have worked out some tremendous buys for certain items. We ordered by color only on these, but were lucky enough to receive labeled named stock. These varieties are all premium quality and size, priced at only $21.99 and $22.99, which is about $10 less than the going retail price. These may be found in the following menu.

Tree Peony Characteristics

This group is characterized by its woody branches which stay above ground even when the leaves go through their seasonal dormancy. Most have originated in China or Japan, and are imported from the Orient today. They are well-suited to the Western Hemisphere temperate regions, USDA zones 5 - 10, with the Rockii types being fully hardy down to zone 4 and borderline in zone 3 ("Tropical" tree peonies do exist but are extremely rare in commerce and we do not presently offer any of those). Like bush peonies, regular tree peonies are long-living and fragrant, requiring minimal care, once established. The fragrance varies, but might be described as "rose-like."

Our Cultivars

Following are some of the most showy, vigorous and most fragrant tree peony cultivars money can buy. Aside from a couple of items we designate as "challenging," we've picked the more reliable and prolific types, appropriate for novice collectors as well as seasoned aficionados.

Sizes

Our size grades are indicated for each item. This is important when comparison shopping. We're confident we offer the best value for your dollar in terms of size and quality. We have discontinued the smaller size grades due to sub-optimal survival statistics in the past.

Shipping

We supply bare-root trees. We will ship right away beginning in November, (great planting time), unless you request later date. If ordered past December, we may need to delay shipping until February or March to avoid severe weather. We can only supply bare-root tree peonies until MARCH 31. Anything planted later than this cannot be fully guaranteed, as it becomes steadily more difficult to establish the plants the later into the season you begin.
