This species (commonly known as the rubrum lily) is a native to Japan, but has been introduced to gardens throughout the world and is a nostalgic favorite in the "English garden" type setting and for many years in the cut-flower trade. It has numerous nodding recurved pink blossoms with raised dark speckles and whiskered nectaries of green. The fragrance is very sweet. Although not as large-flowered as its hybrid relatives in the Oriental lily group, this item is very showy for a wild species. Readily forms underground stem bulblets for propagation. Biig bulbs, 18/20 cm.
Height: 4 ft.
Bloom Time: Mid August
